Common Questions
What comes with Sebba Shade?
- Shade canopy
- Bag for storage
- Adjustable straps
- Hand pump
What are the differences between the 8x12 and 6x9?
8x12: At over 100 square feet, the 8x12 is more than 8 feet wide and 12 feet long. Most boats are 8-10 feet wide, so the 8x12 purposefully extends over the sides for maximum shade. It is HUGE and best for boats with plenty of space to maneuver it. The 8x12's center section zips open to allow antennae, radar, rod holders, etc. to pass through.
6x9: At about 60 square feet, the 6x9 is more than 6 feet wide and 9 feet long. The center section does not zip open.
With either model, the shade canopy fabric will gently rest on top of antennae, radar, and rod holders. There are no metal parts in Sebba Shade.
Both are safe at speeds up to 45 mph and come with multiple straps.
Which size is better for my boat?
Either model will fit on any boat. What needs to be considered is the amount of available space on your specific boat to handle it (inflate, reposition, deflate, roll up, stuff in bag, etc.).
Generally speaking, the 6x9 is best for boats from 17 ft. to 27 ft. long and the 8x12 is best for boats over 28 ft. long. But plenty of customers use the 8x12 on boats less than 28 ft. and are perfectly happy with it.
Can I go underway with it on?
Yes, up to 45 mph when fastened in place in the 'underway position'.
While Sebba Shade already includes four straps, having an extra pair can be incredibly useful on windy days. Add Wind Leashes (sold separately) to any point on your boat during setup to streamline inflation, or secure them to cleats while cruising at high speeds
How heavy is Sebba shade?
The 6x9 shade weighs 8 lbs. The 8x12 shade weighs 12 lbs.
How big is the storage bag?
Oversized at 24” wide and 36” tall, this strong nylon bag has more than enough space to easily store the shade, pump, and straps. Water resistant; pull the draw string closed and toss it in a storage compartment.
Does the entire shade inflate?
No, just the perimeter and the two struts across the middle. This allows for quick inflation to 7.0-8.0 PSI, creating high pressure, high strength tubes and low-weight maneuverability.
Can it be used on a boat that doesn’t have a T-top, arch, or bimini?
No. It needs something to rest on.
How does it attach to the boat?
See how it works HERE!
Does it float?
Yes, it can also be used as a floaty.
How long does it take to inflate?
About two minutes with the included hand pump or your own electric pump. That's right, our hand pump is just as fast as an electric pump - and it come free with Sebba Shade.
Does a pump come with the Sebba Shade?
Yes! Our high pressure, dual action (inflates with both up and down strokes) hand pump will easily inflate to 8.0 PSI in about 2 minutes.
What pressure is required for inflation?
7.0 PSI minimum. 8.0 PSI MAXIMUM.
For comparison, Stand Up Paddleboards are typically inflated to 12-15 PSI (and take much longer to inflate).
