Sebba Shade FAQ

What’s Included

What comes with my Sebba Shade?

Every Sebba Shade purchase includes the essentials you need to get set up right away:

  • • Shade canopy
  • • Adjustable straps (4)
  • • Dual-action, high-volume hand pump
  • • Oversized water-resistant storage bag
  • • Quick Start Guide

Materials & Durability

What is it made of?

The Sebba Shade’s engineering is directly inspired by the high-impact, extreme sport of kiteboarding. We took the same rugged, lightweight inflatable technology designed to survive ocean wipeouts and massive wind gusts, and adapted it for marine shade. Because it's designed to be safely moved into any position, it is completely metal-free to protect you and your boat's gelcoat.

  • The Inflatable Air-Frame: Features heavy-duty TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) inner air bladders—the exact same high-pressure bladders used in the strongest kiteboarding kites to provide rigid structure without the weight of metal poles.
  • The Outer Shell: The air bladders are encased in a tough, Dacron-like material (mirroring the leading edge of a performance kite) to protect against wear, tear, and the elements. We've also strategically placed Teflon patches on high-contact points for ultimate abrasion resistance.
  • The Canopy: Made from lightweight, highly durable UPF 50+ fabric that blocks harmful UV rays and keeps you cool, while remaining flexible enough to handle wind.
  • The Attachment System: Built for ultimate, multi-directional flexibility. The shade's frame features 16 Dyneema "pigtails"—giving you multiple tie-down options. It secures to your boat using heavy-duty polyester webbing straps with adjustable buckles. One end of the strap loops simply and securely around your boat's T-top, arch, or Bimini frame, while the other end uses a high-strength Dyneema cord to attach directly to the shade's pigtails. Zero metal clamps, zero rust, and infinite adjustability.

Performance Underway & Weather

Will it fly away?

Not when properly secured! Sebba Shade is engineered to stay put and is safe at speeds up to 45 mph when fastened in the designated "underway position." Every shade comes with four heavy-duty adjustable straps to lock it down. For added peace of mind on exceptionally windy days or during high-speed cruising, we recommend using Wind Leashes (sold separately) to secure it directly to your boat's cleats.

Can I run the boat underway with the shade up?

Yes! As long as the Sebba Shade is properly fastened in the "underway position," you can comfortably cruise at speeds up to 45 mph.

Can I use it on windy days?

Yes, with care and correct handling (please refer to the provided instruction manual). While the shade includes four straps, adding Wind Leashes is highly recommended for windy days. You can use them to streamline the inflation process, or secure them to cleats while cruising at high speeds.

Choosing Your Size

Which size is better for my boat?

Either model will fit on any boat. The main factor to consider is the amount of available deck space you have to maneuver the shade (inflating, repositioning, rolling it up, etc.).

Feature 6x9 Model 8x12 Model
Area ~60 sq. ft. ~100 sq. ft.
Ideal Boat Length 17 ft. to 27 ft. 28 ft. and over
Weight 8 lbs 12 lbs
Center Zip Access No Yes (Allows antennae/radar to pass through)

Note: The 8x12 is HUGE. Because most boats are 8-10 feet wide, the 8x12 purposefully extends over the sides for maximum shade. Plenty of customers use the 8x12 on boats smaller than 28 ft. and love it, provided they have the space to handle it.

Inflation & Setup

Does the entire shade inflate?

No, just the perimeter and the two struts across the middle. This allows for rapid inflation to create high-pressure, high-strength tubes while keeping the overall weight low for easy maneuverability.

How do I inflate it, and how long does it take?

Inflation takes about two minutes. Your purchase includes a high-pressure, dual-action hand pump (inflates on both the up and down strokes) that is just as fast as an electric pump. You are also welcome to use your own electric pump if you prefer.

What pressure is required for inflation?

Inflate your shade to a minimum of 7.0 PSI, with a strict maximum of 8.0 PSI. (For comparison, Stand Up Paddleboards typically require 12-15 PSI and take much longer to inflate).

Can it be used on a boat without a T-top, arch, or Bimini?

No. Sebba Shade requires an existing structure to rest on.

How does it attach to the boat?

You can see exactly how it works [HERE] (Link to your instructional video/page). With either model, there are no metal parts; the fabric will gently rest on top of your antennae, radar, and rod holders.

General Specs

How heavy is Sebba Shade?

The lightweight design makes it easy to handle. The 6x9 model weighs just 8 lbs, and the 8x12 model weighs 12 lbs.

How big is the storage bag?

The strong nylon storage bag is purposefully oversized at 24” wide and 36” tall. This gives you more than enough space to easily store the shade, pump, and straps without a struggle. Simply pull the water-resistant drawstring closed and toss it in a storage compartment.

Does it float?

Yes! Sebba Shade can double as a fun water floaty when you aren't using it for shade.

Is it only for boating?

Not at all. While designed for boats, it is incredibly versatile. Use it for off-roading, camping, overlanding, or tailgating.

Orders, Customization & Returns

I saw a Sebba Shade on another website for a steep discount. Is it real?

Unfortunately, we are aware of several fraudulent websites and compromised domains claiming to sell the Sebba Shade at unrealistic discounts. We do not sell our products on these sites. If a deal looks too good to be true, it likely is. We only honor warranties for products purchased through sebbashade.com or authorized marine retailers, such as YAMAHA and other reputable dealerships.

Do you offer custom prints, colors, and logos?

Yes, we do! Contact us today to discuss bringing your custom design to life.

Can I return it if I don’t like it?

Absolutely. We stand by our product. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your Sebba Shade, you can return it undamaged within 30 days for a full refund.

What is your customer service philosophy?

Our brand is built on the belief that high-end boating should be defined by comfort, not maintenance. We treat every customer interaction as an opportunity to build a lifelong advocate.

  • Radical Accountability: We take full ownership of the customer experience. If a product isn't performing, we assume the responsibility to make it right.
  • The "Frictionless" Guarantee: We understand that our product is innovative and occasionally complex. We respond with speed, kindness, and a "just send it back to us, we'll fix it" attitude to eliminate customer frustration.
  • Integrity of Investment: Our customers invest significantly in their vessels. We respect that investment by ensuring our products never cause damage (No-Hole/Metal-Free design) and by providing long-term support rather than "disposable" replacements.
  • Expert Empowerment: We don't just sell gear; we teach the "Science of Shade." We empower our users through education to ensure they get the most out of their adventures.
